You can nurture your mental well being by making sure that you start your day right. You want your day to be positive from the time you get up because this can create a happy space that carries you through the day.
You want to feel grateful and happy starting as soon as you wake up. What you don’t want is to begin your day feeling anxious or sad. You want to have positive emotions. You can do that by paying attention to what you think instead of just letting it run its course.
What you think is what you feel. If you think negative things, you’ll feel down. So think about the things when you start your day that make you feel good. Whatever brings you delight is what you should turn your thoughts toward.
Think about what matters to you and brings you joy. Practice gratitude when you first get up in the morning. Think about the things that make you feel grateful. It can be helpful to write down three things every day that you’re thankful for.
Avoid anything negative
Don’t let yourself dwell on anything negative that happened the day or night before. You don’t want to carry that around. Yesterday is over and today is a brand new day. When you start your day, don’t let negativity in.
This is where so many people go wrong and it ends up impacting their mental wellness. They begin their day with good intentions and positive thoughts but then turn toward a negative activity, such as watching the news.
Even a few minutes of negative headlines and one negative story after another can wreck your mood. And the next thing you know, you’ll feel anxious and upset or hopeless. Avoid reading texts or listening to voicemails from negative people first thing in the morning.
If it’s not something important you have to deal with, you don’t have to give that any of your time. Don’t open your mind’s door to other people’s drama if you want to start your day off right.
Avoid checking your social media at the start of the day. It will change how you feel and steal your peace. You don’t need the negative posts ruining your day. Eat something that makes you happy.
Center yourself with positivity
Then take a few minutes to center yourself. This might be through doing something like yoga, listening to upbeat music, or meditating. Take the time to look at something positive.
This might be a quote or a beautiful piece of art that makes you feel at peace. Have a self-care routine in the mornings that you stick to. Let this relax you and help you prepare for the day.
Tell yourself that today is going to be a good day and then make a statement as to why. Leave nothing to chance. Only you can control your destiny for each day.
